Our bikes

Mamachari bicycle illustration

The classic bicycle design used by most societies in the world today has remained relatively unchanged since the 1920s. The upright, step-through bicycle with a basket, bell and full mudguards and chainguards continues to transport millions of commuters with little fuss or cost, whether rich or poor.

All of our bikes are second-hand and we don’t really know what we’ll be getting when our shipment arrives. It’s a bit like opening your presents at Christmas! We think that’s great because it means none of our bikes are quite like another, possessing their own character and style. We do however, notice that the mamachari have some defining characteristics and the diagram above is an example of what you can expect to find on most bikes.

We fix a lot of bikes and some people want theirs to be just a little bit more striking, what follows are photos of some of them so everyone out there can see what we can do if they ask us…
